How Heavy is a Range Cooker?

Whether you’re moving to a new house, renovating your kitchen, or are in the market to buy a new range cooker, you may find yourself asking, how heavy is a range cooker? If you’re planning on hiring a van or even trying to get it upstairs, it will be important to know you have all the specifications of the job in hand.

Larger range cookers can weigh as much as 115kg, whereas smaller models can reach 84kg. Electric range cookers tend to be lighter than their dual fuel counterparts, for example, our 110cm Cuisinemaster Dual Fuel Range Cooker sits at a very heavy 115kg. Smaller, 90cm cookers can weigh considerably less, with the 90cm Cookmaster Electric Range Cooker only weighing 84.3kg. Both are heavy and large pieces of kitchen equipment and will take some planning to move.

Is there much difference in weight when it comes to range cooker sizes?

When assessing the weight of different range cookers, size makes a significant difference. As previously mentioned, the larger the range cooker, the heavier its weight. Here we can see a 110cm Cuisinemaster Dual Fuel Range Cooker weighing in at 115kg at the top end of what to expect from a range cooker.

At the mid-range, Leisure’s 100cm Cuisinemaster Pro Dual Fuel Range Cooker weighs just over 103kg, over 12kg lighter than the 110cm model.

Perfect for couples and small families, our classic Leisure 60cm cookers are the lightest cookers in our range and offer the range cooker style to those with limited space. This 60cm Gourmet Cooker weighs only 65kg.

Will the range cooker type affect the weight?

Interestingly, there is a noticeable difference in range oven weight depending on the type of fuel it runs off. Due to the different elements, such as the gas hobs and burners, on a range oven, weight is either lost or gained depending on the type of fuel used.

Looking at the 90cm Cookmaster series of Leisure range cookers, we can see that there is a difference of 4kg between the heavier gas model and the lighter electric model. The dual fuel equivalent sits right between the two. Whilst there is not a significant difference, it is worth considering when looking at the weight of a range cooker.

Another factor to take into consideration when looking at the weight of a range cooker is the number of ovens or cavities. The more cavities a range cooker has, the heavier it will be.
