Kitchen planning can be tricky, which is why most appliances come in a standard range of sizes. This makes designing layouts much easier, and also helps people compare products and choose the right one for their space. But are range cookers a standard size?
Whilst they are all usually the same height and depth, range cookers do come in different widths depending on your requirements, or indeed the amount of space you’ve got to work with. There are three standard sizes that range cookers come in; 90cm, 100cm and 110cm, plus if you are really tight for space then you could opt for a 60cm mini range cooker. These smaller variants won’t give you the extra capacity of a standard range cooker but it will still give you that range cooker styling. Let’s take a look.
Designed for those with limited space, these cookers are nonetheless a great choice for individuals, couples and smaller families.
Similar in size to many other appliances, 60cm is the same width as a standard kitchen cupboard, giving you a compact and square footprint. Don’t be fooled by the small size however; 60cm range cookers do usually include two separate ovens, with fan and grill functionality, as well as four hob burners.
Only 30cm wider than a standard cooker, 90cm range cookers are ideally suited to larger families and those who love to entertain guests with dinner parties. These units come with a tall fan oven, which is perfect for batch baking and preparing or keeping warm multiple side dishes, starters, or anything else that you can think of.
On the top, you’ll usually find five burners, with a large central one that’s great for those bigger pots and pans that can sometimes take a long time to heat with a smaller burner.
100cm range cookers generally wouldn’t look out of place in a professional kitchen, and offer superb flexibility and space. You’ll find that most come with at least four separate compartments, giving a huge amount of capacity and control, whether you’re looking to prepare a very large amount of food, or you need several dishes on the go at different temperatures at the same time. Generally, 100cm range cookers will have two to three large ovens, a grill and up to seven burners on the hob.
The largest standard size available in the Leisure range, 110cm range cookers are for those who demand the very best, and have plenty of space to work with. Designed for large family feasts, these huge range cookers are always the very centre of the kitchen, and allow for both novice and more advanced cooks to prepare large amounts of food perfectly.
The 110cm width, nearly twice the size of a standard cooker, will have three ovens and a grill and like the 100cm, up to seven hob burners. This is ideal for those preparing food that requires lots of boiling, frying, griddling or anything else. The ultimate cooking machine.
